After Apple and Google it is now Facebook coming up with its own app store. Yes you heard it right Facebook on Wednesday officially announced it is launching a new App store in the coming weeks. Facebook has created its own App centre that will feature the best apps of all types, from iOS to Android to web to desktop apps.
Facebook, which now has more than 900 million members, will include both paid and free apps in its App Centre. The app store will also allow developers to put apps up for sale direct to consumers for the first time through the network. All developers will solely create paid-for apps for Facebook and will have to share 30 per cent of the price with the social network.
“For the over 900 million people that use Facebook, the App Center will become the new, central place to find great apps like Draw Something, Pinterest, Spotify, Battle Pirates, Viddy, and Bubble Witch Saga,” said Facebook engineer Aaron Brady on the company blog.
He also said that “Well-designed apps that people enjoy will be prominently displayed. Apps that receive poor user ratings or don’t meet the quality guidelines won’t be listed.”
