The Facebook-owned, Instagram, has recently introduced a new feature called ‘Nametag’. While it aims to make finding people easier, it simplifies the way people follow you. The exclusive feature includes your handle and your picture as well. It is now available globally, for both iOS and Android users.

On 4th October, the new feature called nametag was launched. It is said to offer a customizable identification card which makes it easy to add friends in person. Basically, it will help a person find your Instagram profile when scanned. As every user gets a unique nametag, this is going to be quite helpful. Need to know how to use this feature?
How to try the feature ‘Nametag’?
The process to try out Nametag is simple. Just go to your profile and at the top tap the button with three lines. Now select “Nametag”. You can scan someone’s Nametag by swiping right into the camera, hover over the Nametag, and hold down on your screen. The other way out would be to enter the camera by tapping “Scan a nametag” while you check your own profile. Now this can be shared with your friends through text messages, and other platforms such as WhatsApp and Facebook.
Want to personalize your Nametag? You can do that by tapping anywhere on the screen or just tap on the button at the top. There is a long list of designs to try, and you can add much more like emojis, colors, and selfies.
That’s not all; the company is currently testing a new bio field. It is in process at some of the universities in the US and the feature will let you add your university, year, and groups such as sports team, major, and sorority.
Your step-by-step guide to use the new nametag feature!
Step 1:
Open the Instagram app.
Step 2: Go to the profile and tap on three lines.
Step 3: Tap on the first option, i.e. “Nametag”
Step 4: It will take you to a new window which shows your nametag along with your profile’s name.
Step 5: This nametag can be used by other Instagram to follow you by scanning the same.
Step 6: You can customize the nametag by moving to the top of screen where you will find an option to customize it. You can select any colour, selfie, or emoji to personalize. Whatever you add will appear in the background on your nametag screen.
Step 7: Just below your nametag there appears an option ‘scan a nametag’. This allows you to scan the nametags of other Instagram users
Step 8: For sharing your nametag, go to the share button on the top right corner of the screen.

Yes, Instagram has also confirmed on their testing out a new feature, Instagram school communities namely. As stated, it is being tested at a variety of universities and students are participating in the same to add a line in their profile. Basically, it will add their class year, school, relevant interests, etc. to their list. So, users with same university will be able to scroll through a directory, follow more people, and direct message one another.
